Fanzines were part of the glue/scissors/paper that held post-punk together, and Whippings & Apologies was a handmade cut above.

Rosie Garland, The March Violets

After more than thirty years Mark and Steve have revisited the Whippings & Apologies vault and have decided the time is right to share the best (and maybe worst) of 'Whippings & Apologies'.  There were eleven issues between 1981 and '86 and mainly featured the bands they loved.    The fanzines have now been incorporated into a book, with some new material from some of those musicians they interviewed at the time.

Steve and Mark reviewed and interviewed dozens bands including the first ever  interviews with the Sisters of Mercy and Soft Cell.  They were right there on the front line when it mattered. Anyone with even a passing interest in alternative music scenes of the 1980s is going to enjoy this book.  If you were there in Yorkshire it's a must!

WHIPPINGS AND APOLOGIES - The Book With The Extra Sting is scheduled for release in Autumn 2018. Keep checking here for further updates.
